Hi all changed over some old 2D emergencies 11 in total for LED. They are controlled from some time lag switches on a communal staircase. But as soon as I powered up the lights all flash randomly. Had it before when one has flashed and just changed when to an incandescent but never had them all flashing any ideas anyone. Cant leave them with a disco for long

If the time lag switches are pneumatic replace with standard switches and see if that resolves it. I assume the charge indication remains on.

Yes the charge light stays on. The time lag switches are touch not pneumatic. It's got me really baffled

Do they have a neutral at the switches?

If they don't then they probably take power from L and S/L by passing a small current through the load to neutral. Far too small a current to cause a normal load to react, but plenty enough to charge capacitors in the LED driver circuits.
Obviously when the capacitors have charged they will then discharge via the LED causing it to flash.

Not checked the switches yet tbh so not sure. If that's the case will I get away with changing one fitting back to 2D to stop it

If your contract is to replace them with LED units then no you can't just fit a 2D fitting, plus then you'd have one odd fitting out which doesn't match any of the others creating a maintainence headache.

If the switches are the source of the problem you could replace them for switches which don't cause this, or fit a small resistive load device such as the Danlers 'resloade' or 'resload' for the unenclosed version.

Cheers davesparks ordered a load today sure they can live with a couple of flashing lights for a few days.

I assume you actually investigated this to see if my assumption was correct rather than just ordering one off the back of my guesswork?
Not yet not been back to site yet but they are only coppers so if that's not the problem not much lost. I'll be back on site on Tuesday so I'll let you know
