I have just replaced some fluorescent fittings for some LED strip for a client. They work well and look the nuts. However the client has called to say that after the lights are switched off they start flickering/ flashing.

I'm thinking of capacitance but I'm really not sure? Any ideas guys and a possible cure?

small levels of voltage are generated in the cable to the lights by adjacent live cables, this charge is stored by the power supply to the LED until the charge is enough to operate the lamp, this then discharges the supply cable and the process restarts, normally for LED the lights may constantly glow dimly as the power requirements are so low.
This is common in two way switching.
