Went to look at a job this morning and left all my main tools at home as the lady said it was just to price changing some lights. However when i got there it was a little old lady who had just recently had a flood and concequently all the plasterboard ceilings had collapsed in the downstairs living room, kichen and hall. The plasterer was due next week to re board and she wanted me to price putting up a few new pendants etc.

As she had no lights downstairs i asked how she was managing and she said she was using candles when it got dark. I offered to put some temporary lighting up in the meantime which she was happy about. So i popped to the nearest CEF and purchased a few basic tools to get by.

One of these was a Fluke T50 which tripped the rcd everytime i tested between phase and cpc. In the instructions it says to prevent this you first need to test between phase and neutral for 3 seconds to prevent this........ What if you are testing a light switch?
I have an old T3 which doesnt trip the rcd so why does a newer model?

I've found that when using my T140 for fault finding on lighting, only use it for its bell function now
Emailed fluke about it as I thought maybe it was faulty but they said it's not

Ended up using mine for only that function too in the end, rather than getting the megger out to bell something out. Until I broke it:p Long live the 4 neon Martindale
