Im really sorry about this question its going to seem really cowboy but i got this voltage tester i have not used yet and it says in the manual it doubles as a continuity tester.

When used on my proving unit all the voltage displays, when used on a socket i have isolated, the display on the right flashes, single pole/polarity and continuity and a beep.

Im right in saying that if there is no lights on the 6 voltage led's then the circuit is dead and i am fine to carry on?

Continuing apologies for a schoolboy error, just want to be sure.

thanks

Wallicio

what you are getting is, i believe, a continuity reading from the circuit of something else plugged into a socket. these voltage testers will illuminate and bleep with a resistance up to and around 100ohms ( depending on the tester.)

As telectric says, but also you should prove your tester on a known live source before and after isolating a circuit to ensure your tester is working properly.
