Sad thing is, most of that would have been replaced with a couple of fibres.

Whey like this? Only a couple of months old and I had to connect 2 new circuits into this.
To be honest, that looks reasonably tidy....compared to some out there!
At least with that method, if you need to alter a circuit or trace a particular cable in the DB, you just tug the cable your looking for and you’ll see it move at the the top...try doing that when there’s a whole packet of ty-raps been used and everything is so tight and bunched....oh and try replacing a faulty rcbo when the fly leads are also ty-rapped in bunches !

Done a few installs in the past where the bills for cat 6 cable were £200k + and half of it got wasted on off cuts, putting basket and ladder, cutting risers, it would all be replaceable with a fibre optic link on each floor multiplexed into the rooms with a fibre connected router in each room.

The install companies make a lot of money out of jobs over months instead of days doing this and mark up the cables as well, if you ask anybody making good money in data they will twoddle about the cost of the hardware (it is not overly pricey) or that getting a splicer in is expensive
