Hi all.
I am a 33 year old RN Veteran and have decided to change my vocation. For the past 15 years I have trained and I am currently working as a mechanical helicopter engineer. Since leaving the forces in 2017 I have come to realise that aviation engineering is no longer for me. I aspire to become an electrician.
My plan is to complete an 18th edition course in the new year, but between now and then I’m interested in working in the trade as a mate so I can get a feel for the job and start to gain some experience. Is this something any of you think you can help with?
I have zero qualifications or experience in this field and as such I am obviously offering my services on a voluntary basis. My limitation at present is that I am in a full-time job from 0800 - 1630 Monday to Friday. The additional complication is that my wife is self-employed which makes my flexibility somewhat restricted in relation to available hours. I will mostly be available on Wednesday and Friday evenings, Saturday afternoons or Sundays. If all goes well with my training, I would hope to leave my current employment and go full time as a paid mate next year at some point.
Any help in this, whether it be advice or hopefully the offer of work would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Dan
