S

switched on

hi i am a newly qualiied electrician doing an install at the moment where dno have brought there supply to the outside box. i was going to drill through the wall and put the fuseboard on the adjacent side. Is there a height regulation on the fuseboard i thought that it just had to be accessible?? i obviously know i will have to put my tails through conduit through the wall. The other question is if they want the fuseboard in another location more than 3 m away from the origin i would run a split with a 100 fuse switch but could i locate this in the box outside?? thanks in advance

The C.U. can be located at a remote location to the DNO metering eqpt via a switched fuse as you suggest, the switched fuse could be mounted externally in a suitable IP54 lockable enclosure.

Dont have a problem with what you are suggesting providing you follos the advice of bugsy as well

Chris

fit the fuse boad in a postion that it is accesable easy when the trip blow's mine is in the garage at an hight that i need a ladder to reach it with it having cartrige fused in can be fun changing them in the dark.

It has to be accessible for somebody who may be in a wheelchair, but inaccessible to children. Yet another glaring contradiction in the regs.

If it is a rewire, there is NO requirement to install at Part M heights, however, what others have posted should be taken into consideration.

ideal i aprreciate all your usefull answers. it just backed up my thoughts apart from the o/s box with the isolator which is a good idea i agree! If i was too use swa would i be able to bury it in the wall as it isn't rcd protected and it is a sub main but is mechanically protected?? many thanks
