I think you will find you where the only one confused, but nevertheless you can now go back to collage and tell your tutor's they where wrong. :innocent:

Yes I was, hence apologising for my confusion.

I will feedback to the college that they are wrong but in all fairness, I should have checked myself rather than take their word.

My mistake
 
When learning anything you have to trust what you are being told by those that should know better, and we assume that to be a tutor they should know better, the problem I have found with all those in an academic role they loose the essence of what they are imparting and rely on books and other members of the academic staff too much, not being on the ground and practicing what they preach, Oh dear I sound as though I am now preaching............................

Has anyone got any sensible comments on the original post's intent:

Have the powers that be caught up with the all RCBO board and altered the warning notice on the DB something along the lines of.

"This installation is fitted with earth fault protection on each circuit, these devises need testing every six months by pushing the button marked "T" or "Test" this should switch off the supply to the individual circuit it protects, to re-instate the supply switch the individual devise back on, if the device does not switch off when the button is pressed, or will not switch back on, seek expert advice."
