Hi Lads

I'm just going round in circles at the moment and was wondering has anyone else had the same problem and found a solution?

Like most sparks I know at the minute I'm out of work, I decided now would be the ideal time to do the 17th edition,

went in to sign on for the first time the other day, and was told I may be able to get funding to pay for it, and was told to call a 'next step' advisor to find ways of funding.

I had a meeting with this 'next step' advisor who basically told me that I would be entitiled to the course free at a local college due to me being on the dole((what a load of s***e!!) but at least she got her form filled in eh??).

so off I goes to ring round the college's to be told that I will have to pay the full amount like everyone else, but they were aware that people on the 17th course's they had been running were getting it paid for by the dole

so back I goes to the dole, who tell me I can not have any funding due to the act that I have to have a guaranteed job offer?

anyone else had the same problem? or know of anyway to get funding to pay for the course?

cheers

you could try and explain that most if not all employees want us with the 17th and make an offer to pay once you have passed and found work

Hi mate, I was in a similar situation to you, lost my job, so decided to do my 17th. Went to my local college, told me that if i was on jobseekers allowance, you will get it funded. So done the 1 weeks ' intensive course, without paying a penny. They will only fund the 1 week course or the 10 week evening course, suggest you go back and try again, or try a different college, by the way I passed, good luck.

What college was this Spraymate? My next sign on is Monday. If they try and fob me off, which Bexleyheath JC do, Ill have a name of a college that do this.
