i am considering starting an av install in the front room. on the wall i am considering i have a socket, which i would like to run a quantity of fused spurs off. these would be for the component parts if the install. i do not want a selection of double sockets each with a plug in, as i feel this would look kinda rubbish.

how many spurs could i run off this socket safely, assuming it is not already used as a spur. or would i need to install a dedicated feed for these spurs, thinking of 7 or 8 spurs.

thanks

If it's a ring circuit then you would need as you say to confirm that socket is part of the ring. If it is then your best way to do this spur of your socket into a spur unit. Then on the load side of that spur you can run as many as you wish.

You know though that if you bury the cable less than 50mm you will need to provide the cable with additional protection as per the regulations.

Also if you run the cable to far you may affect your disconnecting times for your protection device.

Well if you think that double sockets look naff, not sure why you would think 7/8 spurs wouldn't

I feel that that many double sockets, each with a plug and cable on show would look really bad, as with the fused spurs i could wire in from the back and then only have the face plates on show. i just think it would look more tidy

I'd rather stuff an 8 way extension lead out of sight behind the gear.
