I'm hoping this will be an easy one!

Ive just installed some fence lights and wired them using 3 core 2.5mm cable (overkill I know but I had a spare roll) to a choc block inside a junction box.

I also have some small LED deck lights that run via an LED driver and to a plug, however I have snipped off the plug and it turns out the LED power cable is 2 core braid type cable. Due to the lengths involved I've connected this via an in line connector to a piece of 2.5 mm and sheathed and taped the earth. This then runs to the same choc block in the junction box.

Both of these 2.5mm cables join to a single piece of 2.5mm which then plugd into an RCD protected outdoor socket.

It doesnt work ...

Can anybody tell me if there is anything obvious I have done wrong? My next step otherwise is to just take it all apart and reconnect.

Cheers,
Rob

Start with the basics:

1) have you got power at the socket?
2) plug fuse OK?
3) power at your junction box?

I had to come in as it started hammering down but will investigate further tomorrow!

So theres nothing wrong with splitting a 3 core into a 3 and a 2? Or going from solid core wires to stranded type? One thing I've thought of is I havent disconnected the earth for the deck lights in the junction box although it shouldnt matter as I've done the other end right? Thanks in advance!
