I wire out mobile decontamination units that have a 3 kva generator.

We supple earth electrodes with our units for use with the generator.
Every circuit is protected by an 30ma rcd and the generators earth and neutral are conected in the generator.

Because the generator is under 5 kva, rcd protected and earth neutral linked is an earth electrode needed?

If there is a socket outlet anywhere, then yes, so that the ADS still protects a user who runs an extension lead outside the equipotential zone of the unit. If not, then, hmm....

Always a very sensible idea to install an earth electrode outside
I recall the U.S. forces had a few problems with showers blocks when they failed to do that in the sandpit

The biggest problem we had with the larger gennys in the hot and dusty places was getting them to go on line when they self check the earthing, the ground was too dry and it took a lot of water to get them going...
