Is the solar irradiance levels in Germany broadly similar to the UK ?

Imagine all that green energy ! That's a moment for mankind !!

It just irritates me why year after year the Germans show so much foresight. They prove that industry can deliver and compete with far eastern firms, we just look on. Why havent we embraced solar, they close nuclear plants whilst we contemplate building some.

because they have a very strong green movement.
The article does realise someissues with their feed in tariff.
But then, if you want electricity in 40 years time we need to invest now.
The days of cheap electricity are over, now we have to invest in the future.

Isn't it actually worse than that? Don't we get French and German companies in to do our building? So we bring in skilled workers from abroad, our workforce is left doing the menial tasks and any profits end up leaving the country. Totally bizarre.
