Hello

My car, Golf 5, doesn't have +12 ignition wire, only the +12 permanent.

Can I get it from the permanent wire with a switch like this?

I think the answer is no because the radio starts to heat up but I dont understand why.

Can somebody explain it?

Thanks

Have you put in-line fuses in your wiring for the power lines?
You may have wired it up incorrectly and the radio is drawing too much current.

I'd be surprised if you can't pick up an ignition live from somewhere. Have you checked wiring diagram and fuse box details?

As Spoon says, make sure any supplies are fused.

There is definitely an ignition live available, but you may find the audio is canbus integrated. There are conversion kits available,or you may find weird things occurring, like the radio turning off every hour, etc;)
