If you aren't threatened by the high-brow language of Sherlock Holmes and you like comedy, I would recommend PC Wodehouse, especially Jeeves and Wooster. It's a bit posh but damn funny. Also love Terry Pratchett (discworld), Carl Hiaasen is brilliant especially Sick Puppy, and I'm currently well into Mystery/Horror short stories of the 19th Century.

Must admit Never even thought about Jeeves and Worster but will keep an eye out .

Stehen Fry is quite funny I read the Hippopotamus

I read one Terry Pratchet and couldn't see/get on with it

Sick Puppy is that recent /trendy I have read about ir a review maybe ?

Sick Puppy came out prolly 8 or 9 years ago. It was quite trendy back then I suppose, quite a stylised wany of writing, but it's certainly not heavy reading.
