Hi people, found this forum and thought I would join, I am from the UK but have shifted now to the other side of the world in Sunny Perth Western Australia. Got my City and guilds in the UK to add to an extensive electronics experience having been doing both for well, donkeys years. Got to Australia got my WA electrical license worked in mostly commercial electrical and electronics then did a 10 year stint teaching (am qualified in that too!) now back on the tools for the past three years as I thought I was getting stale teaching. Currently amuse myself in a large engineering firm who happen to have robots to play with and such like but bit of contrast as some of the milling machines are from the UK and over 50 years old so the control gear is all open frame contactors, busbars and large lumps of asbestos (which I avoid like the plague!) I also play with computers data cabling and basically anything with wires big or small! I have heard a rumor that you need to be licensed now in the U.K is this true or is it a furphy? Here in Australia it is a nonsense and a major cash cow, but do not get me on my sopabox! So there you go, I have been lucky in that I have been in some of the most bizarre jobs out there ranging from instant porridge machines, Pipe organs, weaving machines and leather tanneries, with an awful lot in between, so much more fun that wiring houses
