I think it may be wise if we are planning on going in to the green deal scheme to list what we are planning on being accredited for

as we will not be over all meausre then at least we have a network between installers and advisor on here. we could sub-contract jobs to each other if we are based near by.

I think it a good Idea

so I will do the first shout

Loaction: northe west

Planning on installing : Solar pv - Loft insulation - lighting - heating controls

Green deal advisor also.

I haven't made my mind up on Green Deal yet, would like to be involved but would rather be a smaller local provider that offers an advisory status but keeping things in house where we can and contracting out jobs to Green Deal installers.

I don't know if I have a place yet with what I want to do as most 'providers' are large corporate entities and I'm only a small town man :p

When the time to jump is right, I want to make sure there's enough water to break my fall, once bitten, twice shy and all that.

we do these now!!
solar pv, led lighting, wet underfloor heating, heat pumps, water harvesting!!! will also be doing log burners,(possibly)double glazing, insulation going to be liasing with a window company and insulation company

Are you planning on becoming approved for all these different techs?

On the same tangent and apologies for going off topic but have just been looking up a bit more info on GD.

The main place the money is meant to be 'channeled' though for Green Deal Finance is the The Green Deal Finance Company, very basic website with not a lot of info on except when you go to their current members.

The following organisations are members of TGDFC:

  • British Gas
  • Carillion
  • E.ON
  • EDF Energy
  • Insta Group
  • Kingfisher
  • Mark Group
  • npower
  • SSE

It's going to be really difficult competeting with the bigger boys here who will bring it all in house or even better just sub the whole lot out to enact etc.

Anyone know how 'Independents' are meant to finance GD?

EDIT:- Weren't they given an obscene amount of money from DECC recently to look further at financing options?

The big boys have agreed to offer the finance mr smith doesn't have to go with them on the green deal as long as he's got a green deal installer, his supplier will give out the loan.

The Green Deal Finance Compnay is supposed to be 'pump priming' money only, after that all Green Deal Providers (GDP's) are supposed to find their own finance through private sources.

That is the very essence of it - Private Finance hence the 7% retun to the finmance companies.

Also ANYONE can register as a Green Deal PROVIDER so long as you comply with the appropriate regsitration requirements, FSA, DPA etc. - Registrations applications are now open, they expect to have HUNDREDS of GDP's early next year.

I know of some of the better financed PV installers (think free solar) that are going through the hoops now to become GDP's...

As an 'Independant' you can work with a number of trade only specialist GDP's -
Wolseley Group - Think Plumb Centre etc
Grafton Group - Think PlumBase etc
