Newbie question. I have a 42W Philips E14 SES Halogen small Edison screw fit Dimmable Golf ball bulb. I understand one cannot buy halogen bulbs anymore.

What is the best LED replacement option please? Has to be dimmable.

here, and loads of others.

you'd also need a LED compatible dimmer. your existing dimmer switch will probably not dim correctly and also cause flicker.

Thanks. This is what I was worried about. A new lamp might be a cheaper long term solution. Have seen Halogen bulbs on Amazon - not sure if it is worth buying these.

I think you can still buy halogen lamps, just not the old style filament (100W variety)
Halogens are still classed as energy saving.
If you can, go with LED, but as suggested, will need a new dimmer switch
