Hi.

I'm on my way to remove a faulty one of these. A 'heat saver' device fitted to a boiler. I haven't seen it yet but it seems to be a relay connected to a boiler thermostat.
Has anyone seen these before? I'm guessing I can remove it all and just hard wire the system so it doesn't interfere with the temperature any more. At the moment the relay is buzzing noisily.

Cheers

Agree, possibly snake oil, possibly genuine in principle but with very marginal benefit e.g. a timer to reduce short-cycling of the boiler. The sort of invention for which people will start a company hoping it will catch on but it doesn't, and they disappear without a trace.

I will be interested to find out. If it's still in one piece after you've removed it and there's more to it than a simple relay or something, e.g. if there's a PCB in the box, I'll pay you to post it to me for the museum and I will try to work it out. If you can give any hints as to how it's wired, so much the better.

Sure! I'll not smash it off the wall with a hammer then.
