Hi there.
this is my first time on the forum..
I'm currently doing a quote for electric heaters on appartments, they have just had hudge quote to replace their gas flues as there not to current regs and are in need of replacement. The gas flues are in ducts that rise through each flat. I'm currently looking for electric altenatives (not storeage) to replace there central heating rads. Any idea?

Muchly ta

What about an electric boiler with the existing wet system? surely this would be a better alternative than going for electric rads. Think on the saving of not having to run radials to each rad position, cost of decoration where existing rads are etc.

I'm interested..
What sort of boiler ( KW) are we looking at for a 1 bed room flat single phase PME?
Could you recommend boiler make?

Do they have a hot water storage tank/cylinder?
There are two quotes i'm doing, 1 BR flat has 50 liter electric tank and electric 8.5 KW shower( no bath) and gas boiler for rads (both being replaced) for electric alternative.
The two BR flats have bath and electric shower. we have it in writing from the electric board that incoming supply is capable of taking the extra demaned. What would you recommend.. Mark

To properly size the boiler you will need to conduct a heat loss survery

Room Calculator - Electric Heating Company - http://www.electric-heatingcompany.co.uk/room-calculator/

I would look at the amtec range

Electroheat Amptec Electric Boilers - http://www.inspiredheating.co.uk/acatalog/Electroheat_Electric_Boilers.html

Also as the flats have electric showers you may need a relay that cuts the boiler out when the showers used

Heatrae Sadia Amptec RL2 Relay Kit - http://electricaldealsdirect.co.uk/heatrae-sadia-amptec-rl3-relay-kit-2492.html

The above is a purpose made kit but you could put together your own for under a quarter of the price
