Heating Belt for Brewing

I purchased a couple of these which arrived today

The belts are getting too hot.
If I could step down the voltage would this make the belts operate at the correct temperature ?
If yes then what do I need to achieve this

They are too hot to hold and will make the brew too hot.
I have other makes and they dont get anywhere near as hot as these.
Just wondering if a lesser voltage would mean lesser heat ?
Not sure how to do this ?

no ,it is set by the belt and it has a fuse in it ,so what fuse is in side the plug top .

This sounds just like self regulating heat tape that is often used to stop pipes freezing.

It comes in different ratings, so many watts per meter.
You can buy it in different power ratings, but also, I would think about putting a thermostat on it or a pid controller with a thermocouple.
That way you could regulate the temperature of the brew precisely.

bin it and buy one of these. adjustable thermostat lets you control temp. and, being immersed in the brew, will not overheat.

You could also use a traditional type dimmer switch
