Hi all,

Just wanted to introduce myself, Dean is my name, I live in North Yorkshire. I am 38 and looking to retrain in a new industry and therefore I am here! I am looking to find anyone, be it a firm or a local spark who wants a mate, I am willing to work for free alongside anyone who needs a mate, I just want to get stuck in and learn. I am starting from scratch so my expectations are not high, I take whatever experience is offered!

I have just enrolled to start the level 2 C&G Electrical Installation cert. I know from some of the people I have spoken to and the forums I have read that getting fully qualified is going to be an up hill struggle with the lack of people/firms willing to take folks on these days just to get the right experience, I strongly believe I will get there though with the right attitude and networking. Its a real shame this country no longer invests in traditional apprenticeships, but I am sure the opportunities are there if you look hard enough. My old man did a five year apprenticeship so I know the value of starting from the bottom. I wish he was a sparky but he was a barber!

I look forward to speaking to any of you on here or in person in future.

Cheers,
Dean
