Hello all,

I'm looking to make a career change to become an electrician, with a view to getting into Solar and Renewable energy in the future - I'm 32 years old currently - is it too late for me to be pursuing this goal, or is it just a question of getting qualifications and industry experience, and then a full time job?

On the topic of qualifications and work experience - which qualifications would should I be looking at, and how would be the best way to gain experience?

I'd be starting from the bottom, just looking for the first solid step in the right direction.

Many thanks in advance for your help,

Henry

Hi welcome to the forum.
You are never too late to change career but it does take panning, time and effort.
Pursuing solar and renewable energy is probably a good long term goal though the market changes rapidly and is very influenced by politics rather than practice.
There are many threads on the forum asking about career changes to be an electrician so it is probably easiest to search the forum and read some of those for details.

Hi henry welcome to the forum.
What is your current job? Are you prepared to start at the bottom and work your way up it takes alot of time.
Personally if someone apprached me face to face to ask for some work id be more inclined to give them a go.. your still young enough to get a long way in the industry, possibly i would look for some one young or in a completly diferent job role to take ok to eliminate some bad habbits and start fresh.
Hope this helps.
