I've just registered on here because I need some advice. (Go easy on me)

My name is Matt, I'm 24 and completed my apprenticeship in 2010. However, a couple of Month later my company went into administration and made all employees redundant with immediate effect. Since then I've done bits if agency work but nothing secure. I've also, worked for a mate house bashing. I've also done a 17th edition course and a 2391 course.

Anyway, I'm confident of starting up by myself but I've found myself at a bit of a conundrum: Part P of the Building Regulations. To sign off notifiable work you need to registered with Niceic (or similar organisation) or notify local authorities who will check the work at a price. Annoyingly, you need to give two examples of works done to register with a self-certifying organisation, which I won't obviously have, as I've not started trading yet. So my first two jobs will have to be signed off by Local authorities. My question is, what is the procedure for getting them to check the work, how much does it cost, etc? Any other information regarding starting up by myself would be helpful too.

I assume other people in the past will have asked the same questions, so a link to another thread might be suitable for the questions asked here.

Cheers

do your 2 jobs for assessment. get registered, then notify through whichever scam you have joined.

not just you mate, everybody knows it's a complete rip-off. if we all refused to join, what could they do. that's the problem with this country, we let everyone walk all over us . we should be more like the frogs. if we don't like it, block the roads, ports, strike.
