Hello everyone! I have finally registered to the forums but I've been following your discussions for some time now. :)
Thank you for filling this place with tons of useful information and advice, you've made my life a lot easier. Now just a few words about myself.

I'm an Italian/Japanese man living in London, I have a BA in economics but realised that it wasn't my thing. I moved to London 4 years ago and decided last year to become an electrician. My teacher thought I could save one year, so now I am doing CG 2365 level 3. I didn't have any previous knowledge or experience.

He was right in thinking that I could do it, I did well in all the exams so far and I can see no obstacles on the "study" side of becoming an electrician. Been using both level 2 and 3 CG textbooks and other good textbooks, websites and blogs, these forums, Youtube etc.

Soon I will start studying for 17th edition. I am getting used to reading and using the regs since we started design, but it looks like I have to dig a lot deeper for the actual exam. Are there enough resources online for self-studying? I don't want to spend 500 pounds for the mini-course...

On the practical side of becoming an electrician, I've been working with the level 2 guys in the workshop every week and am learning an awful lot, but have no real work experience and will have to find something soon. It looks like no one will want to hire me, so I was thinking I could be electrician's mate and work for free until I become useful. I will ask in the other section of the forums soon. :)

So, my name is Alessandro, nice to meet you! I will do my best to contribute positively.

Ciao

Welcome to posting, a good first post.

Finding employment is always difficult when you have no experience but do keep at it, eventually you will find a place.
You could possibly try agencies if you have a CSCS card, but try and avoid them if possible, though they are a usually an easy way to get a start.

Welcome to the Forum, If you are on a active course at the moment then you may qualify for access to our trainee section where we have selected Mentors to answer any question expected of someone learning the ropes, no matter how basic it is, with like minded trainee's there also to advise you it may be a benefit to your learning curve by putting in an application to join the trainee sector (see section headings). :)
