Hello from a newbie, Electrician and forum member

Hi, I have just started out on my own. I was working for a local sparks for three years but just over the last year the trust between myself and him broke down, he never trusted me always accusing me of things and always lying to me about stuff so i thought it was time i moved on. I know its probably not the best time due to current financial termoil but it was now or never! No kids (that i know of), wife earning enough and i wasnt paid much by my previous employer so hopefully i should be able to make do.
I'm nervous as hell about my current situation, worried about my assessment, money, all the paperwork with being self employed, am I ready to be on my own? Hence why i'm still up at 2am. But after a good look around the site I am feeling slightly better as I know this will be a valuable resource in the future.
I would like to give my name but I dont know if my old boss is a member and don't want to create anymore problems between us as I have heard on the grape vine he is a tad bitter about my departure and looking for ways to get me into trouble

Hey bud.

A similar thing happened to me. I'd been with my gaffer for 9 years, when I started there was only 3 of us when I left there was 26. He turned into a complete (NO SWEARING) and stopped caring about his business leaving it all to me. When I told him I was going he went nuts....the whole "after all I've done for you thing" my answer was "what about all I've done for you"?

Any way now you've gone dont look back and ( NO SWEARING ) worrying about him and what he may or may not be saying about you. Concentrate on a high standard of workmanship and prfessionalism and everyone will soon see what your all about.

I appreciate it may be a bit daunting at first, it's the same for everyone just get your head down work your socks off and you'll soon be reaping the rewards that being your own boss brings.
