Hi All,
My name is Johnpaul Humphrey, and I am the DeFacto electrician (and tiler, but thankfully not plumber) for our new house.
I helped a semi-retired electrician wire our house, and have learned tremendously from fixing the problems. (we changed a few things after he left, I am not blaming him for anything...)
I was supposed to introduce myself, so this is my introduction.
I anticipate spending a lot of time here, and I am looking forward to the help I can get.
I might even be able to help someone else with something sometime!

JohnPaul welcome to the forum and we would gladly accept your opinions on American installations

Hi,

Welcome to the forum, it is great to see more members from the states to give @Megawatt some company!

John welcome to the forum and looking forward to hearing your opinion and hang in there my friend

Thanks all,
I am not a certified electrician, so I will be very cautious before giving my opinion on anything. I do have the NEC code (the code we use in America), and have been "enjoying" reading through it to find out such things as "can we hide an outlet behind trim?" (it appears that common sense and the NEC agree on that one)
Since I do have experience with electric, I am thinking of the possibility of apprenticing.
I was told that the industry is pretty stable once you get into the commercial end.
Stable or not, it is in demand in Oregon.
I also really love tile, and have done a bit of stucco,
But I suspect that the cement will prove more stable than the career of it's installer.

John in my opinion you need to stick with learning electrical and stay away from tile and stucco and you sure don’t want to be a brick mason ( hard work ) since you have a code book you need to learn article 100 through article 310 which 65% of all electrical installations is covered in those articles. Good luck
