Hi everyone, I've just joined the forum today and I'm looking for some advice.

I recently bought a new pir sensor LED flood light for the back garden. I removed the old fitting after taking a photo of the wiring but (like an idiot) I've managed to lose said photo.

What's throwing me is that I (think!) I recall that the two neutral wires were joined end to end using a separate connector block whilst the twisted live and CPC wires were inserted into the block inside the lighting fixture. I can't see how this would create a circuit to power the light. I've attached some photos to illustrate. Any advice would be greatly appreciated (even if it's just to get an electrician in which I am already considering!) Many thanks in advance!

One of those blacks is not a neutral it is the line (live) return from the switch, the black in the picture of the switch. The two reds need connecting together but not connected to the new light, keep them in a separate connector. All you need to know is which one of the blacks is that live, the other will be neutral.

Hi westward10, thank you so much for replying and for explaining so clearly. That makes perfect sense!
