Hello,
This is my first posting, although I’ve been reading this forum for a while. I’ll try to keep this short. I’m a Canadian living in the UK, English wife and kids. I went to college in Canada for electronics engineering and then got a master’s degree over here in engineering (electronics) from the OU.
I’ve always worked in manufacturing, usually electronics, like now, and sometimes electrical, but it’s a dying business in the UK. I quite fancy doing my own thing, but I can’t afford my own electronics factory, so I’m considering training as an electrical installer. I’ll avoid calling it an electrician, as I’m aware some in here are sensitive about that.
My current job is fairly safe and considering the economy, I plan on training slowly over the next two years. I’m planning on C&G2382, EAL Domestic Installer and C&G2391 to get myself going then probably one short course a year just because I’m keen, and probably stupid.
I have some electrical experience both casual domestic stuff and professional industrial work, but I wouldn’t call myself an electrician.
Any comments or advise will be appreciated?

Cheers.
