Hi guys I've just move over from Australia and am looking to get qualified here in the UK. I need to do the AM2 assessment and have been checking out what it's about. From what I understand it's the same as our capstone for when we finish our apprenticeship in Aus. I just want to know if anyone eles here has been in my position and what I should look out for and expect. I have to admit I have only worked in underground coal mines on heavy industrial equipment in Aus as a maintenance electrician and have very little domestic experiance, so I find the instalation and testing process very intimidating as its been 5 years since I did my apprenticeship and I know I'll be rusty as hell when it comes to doing it in the the AM2. Any tip or advice would be greatly appreciated. Note I've already done the 18th editon and the ECS health and safety assessment.

If you have a coal based background, I think you should avoid the domestic scene. It would be like having a lobotomy. (No offence to the professional Domestic sparks) it would just be a rude awakening that’s all. The British commercial/industrial would be more suited to your background

Yeah thats what I'm planning on doing but the installation side of the AM2 is mostly a domestic install right? I haven't done any of the intallation certificates here in the UK either and I know they are also part of the assessment.

AM2 never used to be like that, I haven’t looked at the current requirements it wouldn’t surprise me though. British TPS hasn’t got the luxury of having the earth sheathed.
