Have installed a dimmer previously, but wiring in this one is confusing me. Have a feeling there’s additional wiring being used because there used to be 2 switches in this room for 1 light, but there’s only 1 switch now.

Photos attached of current wiring and new dimmer. After reading online, I’ve tried putting everything going from L1 to C, everything from L2 to L1 and everything from L3 to L2. But that’s not worked, the switch just turns the lights on/off, no dimming.

Help please!

think the problem may be either non-dimmable LEDs or incompatible dimmer switch.

Do I understand that you only want to use one switch?

If so, you only need to connect up wires from the 2-core and earth cable. You do not need the 3-core & earth cable at all.

Simply put the brown into C on the dimmer and the blue in L1.

As above - this is assuming that your LEDs are dimmerable and are compatable with the dimmer.

OP says there's only one switch now!... That infers that the 3 core is going to another switch position where there isn't a switch.
How is the other end of the 3 core terminated?
3 individual connectors?
All 3 joined together?
Just cut off?

It’s a matter of what you do with the earth connection. If the switchplate is metal then it must be earthed. Not necessary if it is plastic.
