Are you an electrician?
What wiring is existing on the machine for the motor?

It's a mechanical gear without electrical and the motor is to turn a gear reducer. I do my own house wiring but I dont work as an electrician. As for qualifications, I was a computer and electronics engineer with 20 years experience.( Retired from corporate world )

Who could argue with that? 14 minutes and a concise answer :)

I am sensing the "thankyou" may be held-up,by a further question...
You are absolutely right ! Thank you for the diagram but this motor wiring is not the same as in the diagram but its a mix of both. As it comes with 5 terminals and the original jumper setting looks different from standard motor wiring.

Thank you to all. I manage to get the motor working . But as its a cheap China machine, there is a lot of tweaking to get the machine to actually work. Oh by the way, Malaysia's electricity is UK standard as the nation's infrastructure was build by UK. Even the law is based from UK.

On a single phase (looks to be split phase in this case) machine, you need to change ONE of the field connections and keep the other the same. That changes the direction of the rotating magnetic field and thus the motor direction.

It looks as though it is designed to be eas to change the direction by moving the jumpers. So as you suggest, just swing the jumpers across so that Z1-U1 and Z2-U2.

If you wish to verify this, check z1-z1 with a multimeter on ohms. It should be zero meaning they are common.
