Hi, here goes my first post!
We have had about 4 quotes now for 4.00/3.9 kw system inc LG and Phonosolar panels. But we have got it down to one installer but cant decide on which panels to go for

1) £11000 for 16 x 245w Bisol black panels

OR

2) £13500 for 16 Sanyo panels (cant remember if they are 245w or 250w panels!)

with sunny boy 4000w inverter.

I have read that the Sanyo are best but are they worth another £2500 especially when installer told me that Bisol are coming out 2nd in Photon Lab tests.
We live in Lancashire if that makes any difference and our roof is East/West but think we will put all on West.
Are there any other panels that we you would suggest?
Any advice appreciated.

If you've got plenty of spare cash go for Sanyo - you'll get better savings over the 25 years, if not Bisol will be fine. Both excellent prices and I'd suggest East and West configuration with an inverter that has dual tracking such as the Sunnyboy 4000tl or the Power One.

The Bisol panels aren't coming second in the Photon tests but they are performing well. They're both really good prices and personally I would go for Sanyo out of the two. I would also consider Linuo, Suntech or REC panels.

Thanks for your replies. Could I just ask though, if Bisol are not 2nd in Photon league table, what position do they come? Any chance someone could send me a copy of that info or post on here?

Thanks for your speedy response BiggsSolar! Would you say Suntech and REC are better panels than Bisol then?

I'd be reluctant to say whether I thought Bisol were better or worse than Suntech. The figures on the table aren't for the whole year yet - this is crucial as some panels perform better in the summer than the winter and visa versa. All I can say is that they appear to be performing well in the tests and therefore they're probably a very good option.

I have just had 16 Sanyo 250w panels installed and I am very inpressed with their low light performance - not had much good clear sunshine yet to see what they are capable of.
