Hi
I'm in a dilemma I have relocated the master bt point which is ok and I have wired a cat 5 cable from there to a slave socket at the other end of the room and then from there I have wired a cat 5 Cable directly to the tv

As I was hoping I could hdmi 1.4 cables with Ethernet channel. Which will allow all my devices to be connected to the internet that way

Now can a cat 5 be directly connected to the telephone line or does it need to go into the router cheers

Are you talking about telephone services OR a computer network ???

I'm presuming you have a master BT point with two outlets? One for the phone and one for the comp network?
The one for the comp network has to go to the router that your provider gave to you.
You do have a router? Who are you with?

Sounds like you are talking about networking as telephone wire will not plugin to tv a rj 45 cat5 cable Will.

lmao.. I get the feeling you dont like cats...

nasty bitey scratchy things. even when in a pleasant mood the buggers' fur gives me hay fever. then they have the audacity to purr when i'm fighting to breathe. good training for rottweilers though.

You can buy "ethernet to ADSL" cables online for a cheap price. There Should be Cat 5 as standard and probably some cat 5E if you look around.

However, ethernet to ADSL is usually used for internet phones so I'm unsure if it can translate the signal you need.
