Hi folks,
Ok ignore the fit senario issue.

Would the solar edge SE4000-er-01-gbr work initially with 8x240 or 250 watt panels.
I understand that it would not be as efficient as matching
then later add an additional 8 panels (same type)

regards

wiggly

Hi Wiggly, thanks for your interest in SolarEdge.
The answer for your questions is yes, you can install only 8 panels on the SE4000. You will be utilizing half the power but the efficiency penalty is very small (~0.2% weighted efficiency).

Later you will be able to add 8 more panels. One of the big advantage with the SolarEdge system is that panels do not need to be the same type So in a few years' time you can buy panels from a DIFFERENT manufacturer or rating.

Even when using the SAME panel type you will get an energy benefit with SolarEdge because the "new" panels will not have aged the same as the "old" panels creating some energy mismatch that the optimizers will recoup.
Let me know if you need more info.

Solar edge is a great inverter I just wish prices would come down on the Power boxes !
