Welcome Si.

A lot of people are looking at the electrical industry for a change of direction, going by recent postings.

Good luck with your career change and if we can help we will.

Yes it does seem that more people are getting into trades such as this one. What worries me by looking at all these fast track courses is that someone with no experience whatsoever could easily pass 2382 then do the 2391 and be able to sign off work under part P, there seems to be no regulation of weather someone has undergone apprenticeship, that must be a worry? Any thoughts?

Cheers.

I am not going to bite!
If you want to see some of the thoughts have a look at Electrician WANNABEES in the Business Related section of this forum.

There may be wannabees, there always is in any field, some make it some dont, thats down to the individual. I have thought about this for a long time and its something I know I can do, I have a strong ability to learn, I have no problem with learning (i have qualifications hanging out my ---, too many to mention!) I am 40 years old, ive travelled the world and I have no mortgage to pay, if after a couple of years of training I feel I have the confidence to go it alone then part time will do me, I may be a bit of a geek but i feel becoming a domestic ellectrician is something that would suit me, I love problem solving and would be proud to walk away from a job knowing its been done right, that the customer is happy and safe and has not been ripped off. I will give this my best shot. I have worked in the past for another friend as his ellectricians mate, that was all comercial heating and air con work, but I prefer dealing with the doemestic side of things, thanks for your comments and im sure you will be able to point me in the right direction if i get stuck.
Cheers
Si.
