sparkmate

Just thought i would introduce myself, my name is laurence i live in the northeast and have 2 kids, 1 boy and 1 girl. used to be in the army for 6 years but couldnt put up with ever changing bull **** factor. anyway as soon as i left i was lucky and found a job as a sparkys mate and have never looked back. never thought of doing my exams as worked for the same person who saw my potential and payed me accordingly.but however all good things must come to an end as they say and my boss passed away. leaving me here of course and trying to source more contacts. sorry if i have bored you.lol

Not sure tony to be honest, i am 31 now and not sure if it will be worth my while, what with all the youngsters doing the trade i am sure the employer would go for the younger. I will see what opps come my way and then decide i suppose. Are you finding work easier enough, with the current market and all?

Don't let your age get in the way. The two out of three of the last companies I have been with did not employ "youngsters" but felt that the older worker was more reliable, had more pride in their standard of work and would be able to deal with customers better (their beliefs not mine).

It's a hard world generally at the moment and I don't think our industry is any different from the majority of others, we all have to work for our work now.

Hi Layrence and welcome to the site.

as Tony says, don't let your age become a 'factor' it isn't. I'm 29 and just starting my 2330 in 2weeks time. Like you say though, that's if you decide it's for you.

Anyway, welcome to the site and hope to see more of you on here
