Hi my name is Chaz based in Hounslow London. I have just recently completed my studying as a domestic installer. I know its not as good as the whole collage learning. Im 32 years of age currently working full time in a totally diffrent industry but looking for a fresh start and new career. My overall goal is to become a fully qualified gold card electrician.

If there is any one out there who would be willing to offer me a job as a electrician mate of anything similar i would be very much interested, i have my own tools and a van for transportation

Kind Regrds

Brace yourself Chaz, cos' some of the replies may not be what you want or expect.
I did a condensed Domestic installer course to get myself back into it after a 20 year break. But I do have around 20 years experience as an electrical and data installer (I'm 56 btw). It still didn't stop some people having a go at me, probably more due to my naivety in asking for a mentor than anything else.

I understand the bitterness some of the time-served guys feel when faced with new entries into the industry who have little or no experience, but hold so called 'qualifications' that allow them to work on domestic installations.
To be fair, it's the fault of the government and the employers taking on these people that exacerbates the situation, NOT the people themselves who are merely taking the easiest route afforded them to work within a well respected industry.
There is no substitute for good well paced training, experience and patience. But sometimes, when you give someone the shirt off your back for that course, a door swings open and it looks really really nice in there. It'd be silly not to walk in.
Best of luck to you mate. ;)
