Originally one all the bedrooms had plaster ceilings. In one bedroom someone added firing strips and installed acoustic ceiling tiles on top. The ceiling tiles were removed during renovation and then a licensed electrical contractor ran Romex along the firing strips to the center light and 3/8 sheetrock installed.
Does this meet code? Should I let it slide?
To my knowledge the inspector did not see this.

If you run romex through a stud there needs to be a nail plate at every stud. In other words you can not install romex where it is subject to physical damage
