I'm thinking booking this course up in september at the college of north west London. Reason CNWL is that is where I did my apprenticeship and sstudied for my 2391 I found the college to be pretty good. Im looking to do a day release over two years. Im a qualified Electrician NVQ level 3 and 16th edition at the moment. Has anyone got any suggestion's/advice on this course?
The college?
I live south East London can anyone recomend a college in that area?
Croydon college whats it like (HNC)?
Also do you have to do the electronics in the HNC or do different college's vary with what Electrical engineering HNC they offer?

Cheers Sean.

Sean, my experience is that you do a number of core modules (Analytical Methods for engineers, project management, engineering science etc etc), then the other modules depict what award you get

I took HNC & Hnd Mechatronics, so was heavily into PLC's, Robotics, etc etc, but found that i was only one or two modules different from the guys taking things like HNc Instrumentation & controls. For a lot of the time we had three or four different HNC disciplines in the same class, and even more on the HND

good luck!

Shakey i'm looking to go into project management. One of my pals stayed with the firm when he came out of his time and they are sponsering to him to do his HNC but first of all making him do a B-tec in building services as they think it will make the HNC easier. He is a couple of years younger and has not got a mortgage or a kid yet so he is happy to take a pay cut at the moment to go into the office.
While I'll only be able to do off my own back unless who I work for sponser me! But I can't take the pay decrease for 2 years if they wanted you to go into the office with mortgage and baby at the moment.
Would working in the office help a junior engineer as all I hear off them doing is counting light fittings off drawings and making sure lights are turning up with the right lamps!

Cheers Sean.
