Hi All,

I've recently installed supply for hot tub. 6mm SWA, 32A isolator on 40a RCBO. Now client wants a socket around hot tub area for using TV only. I was thinking to fit IP66 socket from isolator switch via 3A fuse spure. Isolator switch is over 2M away from hot tub. This is the easiest way I'm thinking rather then running another spur all the way through garden just for the socket for TV usage.
What's your thoughts? Can I spur off hot tub isolator switch?
Any help would be great

If you do that, someone will plug in an electric patio heater or other large appliance.

Fuse will blow, either resulting in you getting called back to fix broken socket or being bad mouthed to there mates about the dodgy spark that fitted a socket that only worked for a month.

Alternatively they will replace the fuse with a 13A and the tub supply will keep tripping.

Your plan is a recipe for pain in the backside.

Do it right or not at all.

Hmm? As westy implies, 32A isolator on 40A supply?
What happens if a fault (or overloaded circuit caused by adding a socket) takes the current to 33 or up to 39A??

Right on James

If the hot tub is a known fixed load less than 32A then I see no issue with that isolator being on a 40A mcb, could just loop off the live side IF it is physically large enough to do so, OR fit an adaptable box and do it in that
