House Intake - Pic Attached IMG00304-20120830-1108 - EletriciansForums.net

Is this a normal set up?
I guess that one feed is for my house then the next feed does to my neigbours?

I'm going to pull the service fuse later to do a CU change.

Will this turn my neigbours power off?
I will take precautions when pulling the fuse by removing all loads in my house - will I get arcing when i pull the fuse and put it back in.

Thanks All

I don't think they will know, i still have a guy that comes around to read the meter every 6 months so I guess if this has communication with the network they would read it electronically.

as above. and you should not get arcing as long as your CU main switch is off. don't like those BS951 earth clamps on the incoming sheaths though.

Thanks Tel

do you think I should inform of the pull?

I always keep an eye out for this type of installation and the reasons are this...

The home that I currently live in has my installations main fuse but when pulled it knocks out next door. Now I used to do some disabled adaptive work and on one job I had to visit a client who was permanently hooked up to an oxygen supply that was powered by electricity. I had to wait almost 20 minutes so that they could transfer the client from electricity supply to manual supply.

I would never pull a fuse on this type of installation without first checking the property next door :thumbsup

It is just a looped supply, removing the service fuse would not cause loss of power to the neighbour, unless you start removing the DNO cable (do not do this)!!
Agree with Tel about the BS951, and the cable should be sleeved the correct colour (unless it is just my eyes).

Have called DNO to check the earthing connector.
The lady on the phone said they will be out in 2 hrs to take a look and maybe book into fit a PME.
This will be my Elecsa job for Monday so want to ensure all is ok.

Gonna try to tap the guy up to see if he will fit an isolator for me! you can only ask?

Hope springs eternal......... I wouldn't bank on it being done in time for your assessment

DNO arrived and have remade the connections with correct terminals.
ZE is now 0.7ohms - PFC (L to N) is 6.5ka and (L + E) is 4.4ka.
I'm about 10m from a sub station.

He also put on a wylex 100amp cut out switch so that I do not have to break seals.
