I'm about to fit some LED striplights in this small warehouse as replacements for the T8's.

The existing ones just seem to be screwed into the metal strips that frame the foam tiles. Is this normal? If this is not the method of fitting what is?

The reason I ask is that I have not fitted lights into this type of ceiling before.

Thanks all.

Many years ago I fitted some where we had some special clips which had a sort of scissor action to clamp over the grid with a bolt facing downwards attached and large circular nuts that secured the fittings, all a bit vague though as it must have been 30 years back. :)

A couple of battens spanning the width of the tile or a bit of ply the size of the tile on top of the tile then screw through the tile in to that.

Or be posh and get the clips that go on the grid. Once upon a time most fluorescent battens came with fixing centres at 600mm so the worked perfectly with those clips on a 600mm grid
