I have just posted this pic on the thread VIR ticking time bomb but thought id add it here just in case any ones missed it , i removed this fitting in Zone 2 of the bath room class 1 fitting , apprt from the obviouse perished cable just look at the wiring , think where it was then imagin what i felt when i found it

Please note the supplies were disconnected when the work was carried out ,and no apprentices were harmed

on a funnier side look at pic 2 how to wire an outside light it was plugged into a socket on the landing !!!IMG_0801.jpgPhoto May 05, 10 46 28.jpg

i can see the problem, it's obvious. "made in china" is upside down

Tel im impressed never spotted that man your good lol ...................... the real scary thing is the light fitting has been there for 5 years !!!! and must have been live for that time too

and would think that whoever fitted it should have spotted the deterioration in the cable. that has been bad for over 5 years!

must give the guy credit though, for connecting the perm. L to the earth terminal to prevent the bare cables from arcing.

Oo-er missus.!!...how did that not ever fry someone unfortunate enough to be assigned the task of replacing the bulb!

It's amazing how good an insulator that white paint can be. Went to look at a fault on a fluorescent fitting that had been connected in a similar fashion. Using an insulated screwdriver to undo the cover screws saved me from getting a belt.
