Hello :)
I'm just reading through a few examples of fault report sheets in preparation for my next practical week.

Fault: Office water heater does not work.
R1 + R2: 0.35 ohms
Rn + R2: >99.9 ohms

I'm fine with getting R1 + R2. Disconnect the line conductor and shove it into the earth bar, but Rn + R2? I'm confuzzled! I've been racking my brain and leafing through my notes and I just cant remember how!

Can anyone help with this conundrum?
Thanks,
Gary

Connect line and neutral together in a leaver wago/con block, get your low ohms resistance meter, null the leads and measure the resistance.

Seen your reply Gary, scrap my comment.

lol thanks!
As the topic says...

:D

Rn + R2 is neutral and earth.
If you can stick the line conductor in the earth bar to get R1 + R2, you can do the same with the neutral conductor to get RN + R2.

Why didn't they call line R1, neutral R2 and CPC R3? Easy as 123. Some people can count better than read, apparently.
