Hi, I have just taken my light down to replace with a new one and noticed that the new one has no connection for the loop. Is it okay to just join the loop in a choc block inside the fitting, or do regulations state otherwise?

Yes. that's fairly normal for a decorative light fitting not to have a connection for the loop.

Extra choc block, make sure theres no bare copper protruding that could touch anything else.

Turn off the power at the board, cos that connection is live and tingly.
