Contrary to popular belief they are not fishing weights, neither are they a substitute padlock for the garden shed. No. A neon screwdriver is designed to be the perfect size to remove layers of paint from slotted screws so they can be removed with little or no swearing.

Darwin himself invented the neon screwdriver.

And if you don't understand what I mean, please go and get one to use.

Tut tut . . . .

They are so much fun.

Tape the little neon to a taxi arial and watch it glow as the driver talks while driving.

Poke it in the loose battery terminal of your van to make the contact tighter.

They are invaluable tools for removing boy scouts from horses hooves too.

And where would we be without a neon screwdriver when the bit you open a can of lager falls off, they're ideal for bodging a hole in the can to drink out of.

Don't forget that you can cable tie one to the top of scaffolding to see who's pikey enough to steal it :)

The advantage of the neon screwdriver is not the neon but the clip, which means I've always got a handy screwdriver clipped in my pocket that's the right size for light switch terminal screws. Of course the neon helps when it's a dark corner - sheds some light on what I'm doing .....

Over the years i have collected hundreds of neon screwdrivers,if you get enough, and paint them all different colours(choice of colour is personnel) they do make great wind chimes.

i had one, and tapped it on the end with a hammer to make a hole in something
unbeknown to me, the shaft slipped back into the neon tube and resistor, breaking them
i then used it to test a live cable, and got a poke

If I'd seen you you'd have gotten a poke in the eye mate:)

Nothing wrong with a good quality Neon Screwdriver.......:devil2:

I think all the EON operatives have been issued with them as part of their tool kit.

You can use them for checking which are the live ends of a rfc......:cowboy:

I don't know what all this fuss about neon screwdrivers is about?

I love mine and rely on it heavily after I've had two GS38 voltage indicators go bang!

At the end of the day, if you get a shock you get a shock but if you just flick the end of it, then it aint gonna kill you is it?

well, iv'e just bought a set of wiha slimlines, and they come with a pretty little neon driver with wiha printed on it.
