Hello all

Ive installed a New Ring Final Circuit and have done some tests on it..

I want to learn as much as possible.

My multifunction tester does need calibrating, and sometimes i think im getting dodgy readings.. i need to spend alot more time on my tester to get familiar with it

Are my results acceptable ?

New Installed Ring Final Circuit

R1 = 0.38
R2 = 0.69
RN = 0.38

N1 – P2 = 0.90
N1 – P2 + P2 – N1 = 0.22

P + N Readings At Sockets

1. 0.22
2. 0.22
3. 0.23
4. 0.24
5. 0.22
6. 0.32 (Spur)
7. 0.26
8. 0.24
9. 0.23

CPC1 – P2 = 1.20
CPC2 – P1 + CPC1 – P2 = 0.28

P + CPC Reading At Sockets

1. 0.34
2. 0.34
3. 0.32
4. 0.30
5. 0.29
6. 0.40 (Spur)
7. 0.33
8. 0.32
9. 0.31

Insulation Resistance

N – P = >1000
N – CPC = 724
P – CPC = 673

Im baffled as to why im not getting > (greater than) on all readings?
All connections ar tight and fine..

hi just got home had a quick check the readings look ok for a ring aroud 50 meters in lenth
but there is something a miss on the ir readings for a new ring

it could be pinched cable but unlikely for both p and n to be low ir, not unheard of tho, split the ring at mid point and test both legs, if one leg shows low ir's then continue to split and test to pinpoint the part of leg with low reading. something silly will be causing this.grommets used in back boxes i assume, the readings arent very low, must be damaged /pinched cable some where, could be individual pinched conductors. again unlikely. but stuff happens.
