I am maintenance manager at a private care home. I have no formal electrical qualifications. Am I allowed to replace smashed 13a sockets in residential rooms? If not, what is the most basic qualification which would make this operation legal?

Q1. What does your buildings insurance say about who can do this work. Q2. You may be capable and confident to change a like for like socket front, but if things went wrong for any reason and someone got hurt, could you prove your competence in a Court of Law. If the answer to Q1 or Q2 is NO then get a Qualified Electrician to do the work. If you ask on here I'm sure someone in the area will put their hand up.
