Morning everyone.

As the weekend fast approaches I thought a little confessional thread might be in order.

We've all seen and critiqued dodgy work, however, I thought let's try something different.

Have you ever had a moment where you have been on a job and suddenly had an. "Oh you stupid idiot" moment?

I'll start...

Consumer units work far better if you actually remember to insert the busbar.

Felt a right numpty when I finally realised what was going on.

I put a connector block and tape joint in the loft at a neighbours house as temporary measure as I did'nt have any JBs on the van and it was a sunday job so no wholesalers were open.
This was around 2005 and I still haven;t been back to change it yet....

Right badger I am

I think that screwing rotary isolators to the wall, wiring them really neat and tidy and then discovering when you put the cover on that you mounted it UPSIDE DOWN.

or wiring an industrial plug on the end of a piece of flex only to discover the cover sitting neatly on the counter instead of having the flex passing through it.

I feel your pain.

Normally with SWA boots for me

I'd been doing 3 phase old colours all day and the next morning on a different job I was in a flat and confronted with black and blue tails. I threw the main switch as this was clearly reverse polarity, then couldn't figure out why the blue tail to earth wasn't giving 240v and got half way down the stairs to the intake room before the penny dropped.

Also putting up about 15m of conduit with several elbows for a new emergency light only to find that my initial visual check there was a permanent live at the source was wrong.

This could be a long list actually....!

Went to a customers house, he left key under the plant pot, only after I started filling in the invoice did I realise I had fitted a tethered unit instead of untethered! Easy swap out but felt right daft..
He saw the funny side of it.
I thought this was going to end…..

“and it was then I realised I was at the wrong house”
